This painting brings back fond memories from years ago when I rescued a couple of house martins which were left sitting in an abandoned nest which had fallen off the eves during a hot summer. I hand fed them for weeks and took them outside daily until one day they flew away and I couldn't reach to feed them anymore. I know that certainly one survived as the next summer I recognised the birds call and to assure me it wasn't just my imagnination, it flew close round my head several times as I stood in the garden before taking off. Pure magic!
